Cleveland Plays Racing, established in 2009, is comprised of runners that decided to start organizing high quality races. We are a subsidiary of Cleveland Plays, Inc., the hugely popular sport and social club. Our mission is to create a comprehensive home for Northeast Ohio runners that includes a listing of ALL of Greater Cleveland's running races, local running clubs and pertinent running articles.
The four races owned by Cleveland Plays Racing, Whiskey Island Sunset 3k by 2 Relays, Twilight Trail 8k, Mayfield Mile and Race for the Rainbow 5k all offer prize money and our road races are USATF certified. Spring has arrived and the season is filled with some wonderful races. One of them was Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 29. Congratulations to the winners of First Bank’s 5k & Kid’s 100 yd dash in Willow Park in beautiful Grafton, Ohio. Overall winners are Matt Byrne and Nicole Helfrich.
Registration for Whiskey Island 3k by 2 Sunset Relay and Twilight Trail 8k is now open. For those of you that haven't been out to Whiskey Island, it is one of Cleveland's best green spaces. The start has changed from 6pm to 6:30pm. Winners of Whiskey Relays will receive a bottle of Whiskey and cash. Age group winners will receive gift certificates to to the on site Sunset Grill. All will be entered into the raffle.
Please note that The Twilight Trail 8k has a staggered start. Depending on your age and gender, you can start the race at 7pm, 7:16pm or every 1 or 2 minutes in between. You can help the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center with all the excellent work they do and get a head start on your competitors by attaching $5 to your entry fee. When you do this, you will automatically be given a more advantageous start leaving earlier than others in your original stagger. The first runner to finish wins! Twilight Trail 8k only allows 300 runners and will most likely sell out. Register early!
